Tucson Sister Cities Association celebrated
Tucson’s 231stBirthday
 on August 23, 2009

In honor of the birthdays of Tucson and of Hugo O’Connor, native of County Roscommon, Ireland who founded present-day Tucson back in 1775, Tucson Roscommon Sister Cities held the first annual Hugo's Birthday Party at Hotel Tucson City Center on August 23, the actual birthdate of Hugo O'Connor.  The celebration was free and open to the public and was designed as a "getting to know you" event so that all Tucson Sister Cities could get acquainted with each other and at the same time tell the general public about Tucson Sister Cities programs over birthday cake and lemonade.

We'd especially like to thank the Hugo O'Connor Memorial Pipe Band for performing traditional Irish music, they were a big hit!
We look forward to the second annual Hugo's Birthday Party!

Many thanks to Jerry Gary of Tucson-Almaty (Kazakhstan) for these photos and for MC-ing the event!
